• Kids’ Kingdom:  Our normal kids’ program will resume today, January 15, 2012 with Rotation B teachers and December’s Assistants.  (Names are listed in the Kids Kingdom section.)

• Neal Fabilenia would like to meet with all of the “new” rotation A teachers today after service in the back of the ballroom.

•  On Sunday, January 22nd, there will be a training class for the “new” A rotation teachers immediately following communion.  It will be held in the Pecan Room.

•  Yiri Sanguinetti, Jennifer Thatcher, and Becky Quiroz are going on a medical missions trip to Honduras Tuesday and are collecting donations for medications that are greatly needed to help the less fortunate.  They will collect all available donations after church today and appreciate any and all help.  Please make your monetary donations out in a check to HOPE Worldwide with “Brigades” in the memo section.  Please contact Jennifer at 512-779-3086 or Yiri at 210-241-7276 for any questions.

•  Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University classes will be starting the first week of February.  Jerry Condra and Ryan Hoke will be in the back of the auditorium after church to sign up people interested in attending a class. This will help determine class times, dates and locations. Even, if you are unsure about attending, please stop by and let them know.

 For those interested in a preview of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University classes, you are invited to a preview today, January 15th, at 3:00pm.  It will last about an hour and will consist of a 25 minute video from Dave about the class and a Q&A session with the class coordinators. This a great opportunity to decide if you think the class is right for you. We’ll also discuss dates, times, places and costs.  The address is 25039 Catalan Cliff  SA,TX 78261. Phone: 210-602-7336.

•  Carlos Villatoro is offering to pick up any old metals, (aluminum, iron, etc.) or appliances of all kind that people want to get rid of (i.e. lawnmowers, barbeque grills, stoves, etc). He will remove them from your property, recycle them and use the monies to serve the poor as a bible talk.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule a pickup, please call or email him at 210-387-1690 or carlos-vicki@sbcglobal.net.

•  MLK Day of Service–Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 9:00am

On Saturday, January 14th, HOPE worldwide–San Antonio will celebrate our annual Martin Luther King Day of Service by canvassing about fire prevention and safety, in partnership with the American Red Cross. The event will start at 9:00am with a
kick-off rally at the San Antonio headquarters of the American Red Cross at 3642E Houston Street, San Antonio, TX 78219. Coffee and pastry will be served. We will finish with a celebration lunch and party for the volunteers back at the Red Cross headquarters at 1:00pm. THANK YOU, in advance, for your heart to serve! We will have sign-ups at church services in the coming weeks. If you
have any questions please see Kevin Surrett (210-639-1903).

•  Next week, December 18th, we will host our ninth annual Carols by Candlelight service at the Arneson River Theater, located downtown on the Riverwalk in La Villita.  There will be NO service at Norris.  The address is 418 La Villita Street 78205.  At 5:30pm, we will have our communion service and take up our regular contribution.  Afterwards, we will begin the carols. Please bring candles and containers to hold the candles in.  If the weather is cool, please dress appropriately because the Arneson is an outdoor theater.  You can also bring blankets.

• Our service scheduled for Christmas Day has been CHANGED to Saturday, December 24th at Norris.
  Service time is 5:30pm.  Please note the change on your calendar.  There will be NO service on Sunday.

• On behalf of the Students from Nairobi, we would like to say a big thank you for your continued support to Chance for Africa.  It’s amazing that a whole year has gone by and we have started the 2012 scholarship drive for the Students in the Nairobi Church.  God willing, we would like to complete the drive today, December 11^th, so that we can send the funds before the end of the year, since the School year in Nairobi starts the second week of January.

  for your continued support to Chance for Africa. It’s amazing that a whole
  year has gone by and finalized. On the day of the training, pictures will

• The Middle School Ministry Christmas
  party is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th at the home of Jerry and Yolanda
  Eddy (1210 Oak Path 78258) from 3:00 – 5:00pm.
  We will have a devotional followed by a white elephant gift exchange

•  American Red Cross – Disaster Relief Program Training – As the local chapter of HOPE worldwide and a partner with the American Red Cross, we are asking all who wish to volunteer for the Disaster Relief Program to attend the training.   This training along with a background check and photo ID cards are required to participate as a volunteer. The training
  date, time and location will be announced when finalized.  On the day of the training, pictures will be taken for the ID cards.
• Olivia  Pope is in need of childcare for her 2 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter for a couple of months until they
  can be enrolled in daycare. As of now she is only able to pay $400/month. Please contact her at 210-842-9782 or Ocpope@Gmail.com.

• Laura Escobar had arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Please pray she will recover
  quickly and easily.  This surgery will prevent Laura from returning to work immediately. She will be unable to do many

•  Sunday, November 20, 2011, churches around the world will be uniting for the International Day of Giving. On that date we will be taking up a collection to support the global programs of HOPE worldwide. Some examples include:
• HOPE worldwide has built 50 hospitals and clinics and 6 schools in Afghanistan, as well as distributing millions of dollars in supplies to the poor.
•  Village of HOPE in Delhi, India serves an entire village of 4000 people affected by leprosy.
• Food, shelter, counseling and medical services for Haitian earthquake relief.

Please search your hearts and wallets and speak with your family, friends and companies. Engage other people
outside of the Mission Point family—you can do things like door-knocking, yard
sales, or setting up a table at flea markets to let people know about this

• American Red Cross – Disaster Relief Program Training
  As the local chapter of HOPE worldwide and a partner with the American Red Cross, we are asking all who wish to volunteer for the Disaster Relief Program to attend the training.   This training along with a background check and photo ID cards are required to participate as a volunteer. The training date, time and location will be announced when finalized.  On the day of the training, pictures will be taken for the ID cards.

• Olivia Pope is in need of childcare for her 2 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter for a couple of months until they

• Our 2011 International Day of Giving:  “Stronger Together!”

International Day of Giving is HOPE worldwide’s largest annual fundraising effort.  It is scheduled for Sunday, November 20th.  The theme for this year’s campaign is “Stronger Together.” We truly believe that people in need are strengthened when we are united to help.  Let us mark our calendars and make plans for this special day of giving.  Our goal is

  • HOPE worldwide will once again participate in Avenida Guadalupe Association’s Annual 16 de Septiembre Parade & Festival on Saturday, September 17th 8am to 5pm.  We will have a food booth where we will sell nachos “deliciosos”!  100% of the net proceeds will go to support the local efforts of HOPE worldwide here in San Antonio.
  • We are in need of volunteers who can help serve at the booth.   It is fun! There is music, food, marching bands, children and much more.  If you are able to serve for at least 2-3 hours on that day, please see Kevin Surrett after Sunday service or call him at 210-639-1903. • The chronically ill in our congregation that God does miraculous things in medical breakthroughs for cures and successful treatments, as well as for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength for each individual to get through their challenges.  As more than conquerors that they will be able to help others with the compassion given them from God to share with others going through similar trials.
